I've taken up a challenge to do something different and exciting. Not really going to get much out of it but it's going to be crazy satisfying if I manage to pull it off. Nothing to do with being a Hollywood star like I did Beyonce, not playing a cat either.. just something different. Can't say much which means you guys just have to check back in two weeks for that particular post. ^^

It's smooth, it's sheer, it's tres chic! MAC Très Cheek is another new limited edition collection for Spring/Summer and it features six powder blushes. Described as seamless, I want them all!

 

The shades I have are Love Cloud and  Modern Mandarin which seems to be the more popular ones. Love Cloud is a bright mid-tone pink with a satin finish. In the pan it doesn't exactly look like a shade that will give you a pop of colour and after swatching it, Love Cloud appears to be a sheer cool tone pink. The texture is velvety smooth. However I noticed with this shade, it required quite a bit of layering before it showed on my skin tone. Even with layers on, it's still seamless and looks luminous. It gives that soft sheen that looks really natural. A soft pretty shade for an understated look.

Modern Mandarin on the other hand is a lovely pop of colour. It is a red-orange shade with a satin finish. This one is my fave out of the two. It shows with ease when swatched. The texture is smooth but I noticed that it  isn't as velvety as Love Cloud. Don't get me wrong though, it still blends like a dream. Although it appears bright-ish in the pan, it shows beautifully on my skin tone. I think this works great with medium skin tone babes for an effortless pop of colour. The colour is easily buildable so it's up to you how much you want to be noticed. Both colours lasted about 5 hours on my cheeks before I noticed any colour fading.

 

Apart from Love Cloud and Modern Mandarin Tres Cheek also comes in Pink Tea (Neutral Beige Pink - Satin), Peony Petal (Bright Blue Pink - Satin), Immortal Flower (Bright Peach - Satin) and Full of Joy ( Lavender - Satin). It is available now at all MAC outlets for RM75.

MAC Optimistic Orange Cremeblend Blush is one of three limited edition shades from the Shop MAC Cook MAC Collection. I usually stay far away from creme formulas as possible because it's one of those that doesn't go all too well with oily skin. Unsure as I was when I got this, I figured I might as well give it a try.

MAC Optimistic Orange is described as "bright orange" with red undertones and they weren't exaggerating with the name. I wasn't sure how I was suppose to make this work until I swatched it. The colour payoff is really good. It came out bright on my arm, but appeared sheer after blending. The texture is smooth and light. Not thick as I expected it to be. It can be easily layered on if you want a brighter look.

I decided to use my fingers to apply it on my cheeks. It really is up to personal preference to either use your fingers or a brush. I took a minimum amount of product and applied to the apples of my cheeks and dab and blended it out really quick. It blends out with ease without looking blotchy. It feels a tad wet right after applying but after drying out a few minutes later, gives that dewy effect.

The problem I found when using my fingers was the staining. Don't worry it does come off. So clean your fingers right after. Also when using fingers it's best to apply right after your foundation without applying a setting/loose powder as it will not stay on the cheeks instead will just swipe off the powder and may not end up looking very nice. I dust over with loose powder after.

The colour stayed on for a good few hours but I found it fading after about 5 hours. I should think it would last much longer on those on dry or normal skin types.

Watch Me Simmer, my fave from MAC's latest collection. It's a bright pink orange and looks absolutely gorgeous! I seem to be leaning towards brighter colours lately and coral-ish colours seem to suit me quite well.

It comes in a really cool bright coloured packaging same as you see in the promo photos of the Shop MAC Cook MAC Collection. The tube however is the usual black. Since this is an Amplified, not only does it give that creamy effect which does not dry out, it's also highly pigmented giving me this pretty coral shade dancing on my lips! This does stain though. I think it's a good thing coz I didn't need to rush and reapply since there's still colour on my lips. Currently lurving it!

Remember the MAC Me Over collection which was launched for Fall/Winter 2011. Well I have a few of the lipsticks and lipglasses from that collection in case you guys were wondering how some of the shades would look like on a medium skin-toned me. I have with me on the one hand an extreme bright and intensely dark shade and on the other hand some really nude ones. Some crazy dramatic shades on me. Sounds fun already! As with all MAC lippies, expect the vanilla scent.

The Lipsticks

Runaway Red, Prince Noir, Secret Lover

Runaway Red is a blue base medium red lipstick with a hint of fuschia if your eyes can catch it in the photo. The colour is intense even with one layer but with two layer it's pretty much opaque. Its satin finish gives it that bit of creamy look.

Prince Noir is a deep burgundy with red undertones. What can I say, it's dark. I probably wouldn't wear this ever so often, perhaps for a statement lip. That said, it can be toned down with some gloss. This is a matte finish.

Secret Lover more along the lines of barely there with loads of fine gold shimmer. I suppose the lustre finish says it all. Great to mix and tone down brighter or darker shades.

The Lipglasses

Good Times is a light pink mauve. It appears a creamy nude pink on my lips and despite applying two layers, does not appear to cover my lip colour. Still clearly visible. Great for mixing and toning down brighter or darker shades.

Illicit is a light peach beige with micro shimmer. It appears a creamy nude beige on my lips and just as Good Times, despite applying two layers, does not cover my lip colour. I suppose I could use this if I'm going for a nude look. Otherwise i'll be mixing and toning down with this one. I found this one to settle a lot quicker on my lips compared to Good Times.
