I was invited by L'Oreal Professionnel to try out the L'Oreal Professionnel X-Tenso Pro-Keratin Treament coupled with the Steampod Steam Care Service at A Cut Above Salon with Dee as as my hairstylist and Lily doing the treatment for my hair. The X-Tenso Care Pro-Keratin Straightening care range is designed to specifically care for hair that's undergone chemical treatment, to protect and reconstruct hair fibre. Chemically treated hair can become sensitised over time, making it coarse, fragile, dull, lacking in density and difficult to shape.

I was one of the 20 shortlisted for Parkson’s first edition of The Style Journal – Christmas 2010 Edition photoshoot! The best part was I received the news on my birthday last week! *was jumping with joy! :p* Parkson gave me a birthday present, it was as if they knew!! *winks*

I was so excited on Saturday that I got to Parkson even before the shutters were up. Lol!  I could see the staff were just about to set up for the shoot through the shutters. Yeah I was peeping.. it kept me occupied while waiting.

9:45 am - I look sleep..

Soon as the shutters were up I met Joanne from Parkson at the United Colors of Benetton (UCB) counter and was swiftly whisked away to A Cut Above to get my hair done. Joanne explained the looked they were going for was Simple & Relaxed for both hair & makeup. Something different from my fave Rock Babe look.. ;)

They were still setting up the equipment

A familiar face! I met Desiree at the salon! (The sweet babe that helped me model some dresses for one of my posts last month).  I thought my hair was to be a bit straighter but I was soo pleased that the junior stylist defined my curls instead! Yay!! *lurv it when they do that..*

At the Salon with Desiree after our hair do session

I got to choose my top back at the UCB counter from their latest Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection. I spotted the green one I was admiring earlier with the pretty studded cat on the front and took it off the rail at lightning speed. *yeah yeah I know that sounded so kiasu.. lol*

I lurv the top!!

Makeup by RMK - it was all about the Autumn Brown 2010 A/W Collection. It's very natural & nude. Carley used the Deep Brown and Dark Brown Trio Eye Palette on me. Pale Gold Beige on my cheeks and Pale Beige on my lips. Since the Pale Beige shade made me look a bit sickly, it had to be topped off with a bit of gloss. Some gel liner and two coats of mascara later, I was ready to rock my photoshoot.

By this time Parkson's Ambassadors Kelly Jagan & Danny Lim,  winners of the Ford Models Malaysia 2009, were already around to help out the participants with posing and styling tips. Both Kelly & Danny gave me great suggestions on how to pose because half way through my session I was running out of ideas. *soo embarassing!*

Getting tips from Kelly :)

After about 20 minutes of sliding, kinda walking, attempting to look natural, trying to look cute, smiling too much, looking serious (this didn't work for too well.. lol), having fun and awkward pauses hoping to be inspired with more poses, my session was done. *phewh* Didn't realise I could feel so hungry after a 20 minute photoshoot..

Since my own camera had a mind of its own, it coutinued to click away..

As I was about to change my top, I found out that I get to keep it!! The green cat top was miine!! Together with the rest of my goodie bag I went off for lunch.

Thanx Parkson for an extremely exciting experience!! I had loads of fun with the photoshoot and its was wonderful to get to meet Kelly & Danny!!

*Parkson will be uploading the chosen photos of the 20 shortlisted participants for voting really soon. So check them out on Parkson's facebook and please vote for me! I will keep you guys updated.. *hugzzz*

After being at A Cut Above for a bit over 2 hours watching in awe at Winnie Loo's prolific talent, I waddled over to Zouk Cafe @ The Gardens to see whats happening there for the event itself.

Guests started coming in about 630pm. Just in time for food to be served. A nice spread on the buffet table.

Then it was time to introduce Winnie Loo! Yayyy!! Winnie emphasised on how important a good hairstyle is. A certain hairstyle should be chosen according to face shape, hair texture and whether you're daring enough to try a style that could give you that "Wow!" effect. And colour is another important thing, yeah there's been talk/studies saying that it could be cancerous but Winnie says otherwise. So if you want to colour you hair, just go ahead and do it! You may want to consider L'Oréal Professionnel's new hair colour using the latest technology, Innovation No Ammonia (INOA) for sensitive scalp. Winnie has a saying when it came to colouring hair and its possible cancerous effects, "If you are to die young, then better die beautiful". (I'm all for this!)

Next, spotlight on Tammy @ Miu, Yunny and Xin Yi with their gorgeous new hairstyles. Winnie showed how they could play around with their looks just by styling it. Experiment. Be it with hairspray, styling clay or any other products to create different effects. Read about Tammy @ Miu's experience in getting a hair makeover here.

Extreme init! Definitely gorgeous!

Apart from the Q&A session, Winnie shared some tips with the ladies.
Tip 1: Go for a trim every 6 weeks.
Tip 2: For a round shaped face, don't attempt a one length bob with a full fringe.
Tip 3: To soften a triangle shaped face, try a fringe.
Tip 4: For a long shaped face, don't do a straight rebonding.
Tip 5: To smoothen out frizz prone hair, try A Cut Above's latest Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment. (I should give this a go to smoothen out my headfull of fluff instead of having to blowdry it so often. Or I could just change my name to Fluff-tin! Lol!!)

A special mention
Winnie Loo has been invited to be in residence backstage at the New York Fashion week this coming September! The first Malaysian ever to be invited. A feat any hairstylist could only dream to achieve. Not only has she made Malaysia proud, this surely should be the catalyst to spur Malaysian Women to strive for nothing but the best. She is truly an inspiration!

Thanx to the sponsors for making this event possible. It's been exciting and am looking forward to what WEVents has in store for us next!

The Committee that made it happen

A Lil Caution: Don't hold your stylist liable for a wrong haircut or style! *winks* (Besides, it's hair, it'll grow. So go ahead and try something different. You might just get asked out on a date by that hot guy over there. Lol!)

If you've missed my exclusive Behind the Scene on the makeover with Winnie Loo click here.

WEVents definitely managed to get everyone excited in the run up to their latest event, "Gorgeous Hair for A Gorgeous You" with Winnie Loo, director and founder of A Cut Above Salons.

Three lucky registered guests were selected to get a hair makeover done by none other than the amazing Winnie Loo herself. The three lucky ladies whose identity were kept a secret before the big unveiling at the event were, Tammy @ Miu (a well-known blogger), Yunny Hasfaniza and Chin Xin Yi.

The Unveiling

I was phreaking excited when WEVents and Winnie gave me the green light to do a "Behind The Scenes" post! Which meant that I could be around throughout, to witness greatness at work and see the shocking transformations.

It started at 3pm sharp with a hair consult with Winnie. There was one thing that all three ladies asked of Winnie, make them look slim! At first they were sceptical and didn't really know what to expect and played it rather safe, no one wanted to do a short look until one was daring enough to take the plunge and the rest said, "Lets do it too!".

Tammy @ Miu

Fatin: Hey Tammy, how do you feel?
Tammy: *smiles* Nervous! Scared and not quite sure what Winnie is going to do to my hair.

The picture of nervousness

Meet Tammy, she's had long hair for 2 years and was just waiting for an oppurtunity to get a new look. Winnie initially suggested her hair to be cut about mid length with soft layers. Until the unexpected happened.. *enter shocking backgroud music*..

Tammy told Winnie to chop her length off! Winnie was soo excited that she didn't leave room for second thoughts and chopped it all off with my camera clicking away! Just by cutting the length, a fresh new look was already obvious. She worked her magic from there on..

Ready, set...

chop chop!

bye bye hair!

The scissors that made it happen

New look coming together

Winnie also decided to do a lil bit of a touch up with Tammy's roots which ended up with a hair colour to complete the makeover. Soo lucky!!

Someone's got new colour

That's starting to look like a creature of some sort

Tammy's hooked on this eye pose now.. lol!

A perfect side view
Yunny Hasfaniza
Fatin: How you feeling Yunny?
Yunny: Definitely excited. I'm eager to try something new and will just have to wait and see what happens.
Another gutsy lady.. Winnie was concerned at first with the fact that Yunny is getting married in December so suggested that Yunny keep her length with a wispy look. But eventually Yunny decided to try something different and cut off her length as well!
Since Yunny already had a short fringe that couldn't be changed, Winnie worked more on the length. She gave Yunny a bit of an angled look.

Winnie went quite short at the back

The length that was

Finishing up the sides
Yunny considers this makeover as an early wedding present to herself. *You go girl!!*
Xin Yi
Fatin: Tell me how you're feeling Xin Yi?
Xin Yi: I'm nervous and scared. (and she looked it.. *winks*)
Xin Yi came in with a short-ish one length hair style, a bit aunty-ish ;). Winnie suggested that she try a much shorter style which Xin Yi wasn't really sure about. I'm not sure how Winnie talked her into saying yes but it happened. (Where was I? Hmm..) Winnie did a Mod look on Xin Yi. One side was slightly longer to make it more interesting.

Check out the difference!

The back looks really nice

The Mod Look
Xin Yi at 20 years old ;)
Now this transformation really took years off Xin Yi despite her already being young.. ;)
During the whole process it was great listening to Winnie share her experience after being in the industry for 36 years. Believing in being hands on even with so much experience, she always encourages people to change their hairstyle and loves doing the transformations herself. According to Winnie she gets a lot of her male clients asking her to encourage their wives or girlfriends to change their hairstyle. It makes them feel like they're getting a new one! Lol!
I of course was dying to ask Winnie a question. Seemed to be the most logical thing to do a chance like this doesn't come around ever so often. ;p
Fatin's Question: What does it take for you to get to where you are now?
Here's what Winnie answered, "You have to be driven, you must have passion and never give up! You don't just maintain, you strive for more, to stay at the top. It's hard work but it's worth it, for the fame and the image. I'm a surgeon with scissors!" (An amazing one at that!)
About two and a half hours later, Winnie and her team did the finishing touches on the ladies and VIOLA.. each one with gorgeous new looks!!

Winnie's Creations
I gleefully asked: How do you guys feel??
Tammy: I feel HOT! SEXY! I feel like wearing leather and crawl like a cat on the floor! (I'm not making this up, she really said this.. lol!)
Yunny: New, Fresh, Younger! (Expecting wedding invite for this.. :P)
Xin Yi: I can't believe it! I feel confident and I feel like sharing this experience with everyone. Eventhough I was afraid at first, I must try it at least once. *huge smiles from Xin Yi*
This was a wonderful experience even for me. Just being there watching Winnie Loo creating works of art was such an honour and a treat. She's just brilliant!
An hour left before the event started, the ladies went off to touch up their makeups, buy a new outfit and do a lil shopping. Want to know what happened at the event itself, stay tuned.. there's more. :)
Thanx loads Winnie Loo and WEVents for letting me be apart of this! *beaming smile*
