Well hello there 2017! It has been about a month since my last post and I figured I would start with a 'Dear 2016'. So here goes...
One thing for sure is that Kiehl's is committed to make the Earth a better place to live in. It's longstanding mission is to preserve and protect the environment. In conjunction with this year's campaign, "Working Towards A Better Earth", a campaign dedicated to the mission of a better environment through education and activation, Kiehl's also introduces the "new generation" of the Kiehl's Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Minizmizing Collection to commemorate it. Let me just quickly talk about the Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Minizmizing Collection and then get back to the campaign.
I had a really nice tea session with one of my oldest friends last week. I have been wanting to try out the Afternoon Tea at St. Regis since it opened about a little over a month ago and decided that it had to be before fasting started, otherwise I would be thinking about it for another month. It has been a long while since I have posted up anything on dessert but I had to with this one because well, it was pretty.
I
was looking forward to this and it was awesome! It was so satisfying completing
a 12km bike ride, especially since it was for a good cause. As part of Estee
Lauder Companies' 2015 Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign, it organised
various outreach efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer in Malaysia and
raised funds for charitable beneficiaries. Last year, a total of RM600,000 was
raised to support Cancer Research Malaysia (formerly known as The Cancer Research
Initiatives Foundation, CARIF), The National Cancer Society Malaysia, The
College of Radiology Malaysia and The Breast Cancer Welfare association so they
can further strengthen efforts on medical research, education, offer of free
mammograms and support for survivors.
I don't usually do a favourites post, I think the only other one I have done was for end of last year. But since it's been a good month with things I have been loving, something different that I did and awesome people that I have been spending time with, I figured why not. So maybe there is something about Virgos and September that we feel like celebrating all month long or maybe that's just me because it has been all about cakes and desserts almost everyday this month. Oh yeah!
I was at Superdry Pavilion last week with The Butterfly Project to attend their VIP Day. Great time to check the latest A/W 2015 Collection especially if you are a member. You get really good privileges of you sign up as a member. There's 10% off purchases all year round including One-Time Privileges - 20% off purhcases, 30% off for your Birthday, complimentary t-shirt with RM500 + purchase as well as RM100 off any outerwear.
It's half way through September already and Chocolate Cats turns 6 this month. I just wanted to thank you guys for still being around and supporting the blog. I know the blog has been a bit out of focus the past few months, there has been a lot going on outside Chocolate Cats. Trying to get things back on track real soon. Hope you guys can bare with me. Thanks again guys, y'all just awesome! ♥
It think it has been a while since I wrote about an event but this was a fun one because I got to hang out with the girls. All four of us - Jean, Reiko & Arisa. It was also nice to catch up with Blair after so many months. Christian Dior recently launched the La Collection Privee in conjunction with the Dior Pavilion KL Boutique opening. This is the second one after Mid Valley last month.
I finally decided to do this post after being tagged by Jean on instagram ages ago. I figured it's a good way for you guys to get to know me a bit better especially since a large part of the blog content is product reviews.
You guys may have seen a flood of 'just woke up' selfies on the weekend of March 8th. It is part of Marie Claire Malaysia 'Wake Up To A Good Cause' campaign in conjunction with the magazine turning 21 this year. The campaign, in support of Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) aims t create awareness on violence against women while raising funds for WAO. It is shocking to note that one in every three women in the world has suffered from some from of abuse. WAO has estimated that 39% of Malaysian women have either been physically, mentally or emotionally abused.
EH! Magazine turns 15 and they held a concert with The Body Shop Malaysia as the main sponsor, especially for their loyal readers and customers. Something that's completely different from what The Body Shop has done yet completely exciting! It was just the perfect way for The Body Shop to celebrate their 30th Anniversary this year. Concert go-ers has the chance to try out the latest fragrance from The Body Shop as the came in, Red Musk, which is already available in stores.
A new coffee place right smack in the middle of KL! Rejoice! Somewhere I can hang out and this time I don't have to bring a book along. The Library Coffee Bar @ Avenue K has a wonderfully relaxed set up about it while being photogenic at the same time. It has great attention to detail. They have an upstairs too but I didn't wander about.
The Body Shop Malaysia turns 30 and they wanted to celebrate International Women's Day a little differently from previous years. With the tag line 'Be More Than Beautiful' The Body Shop seek to redefine what society considers as beautiful and to encourage people to celebrate women with substance who are made up of qualities worth pursuing. They looked to Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Dato' Ambiga Sreenavasan, Ivy Josiah and Zainah Anwar. These women have made an impact and fought for gender equality, fairness and the empowerment of women and it was very insightful to hear them share their opinions on certain subjects at the media launch earlier. I feel I should mention that Datin Mina Cheah-Foong, Founder and Managing Director of The Body Shop Malaysia is an amazing woman herself. I mean The Body Shop has been in Malaysia for the past 30 years after all and they have managed to raise awareness and make a difference with various campaigns and causes over that period of time.
There is something so real about black and white photos. I have hardly done black and white on the blog as emphasis is usually on colours. So I decided to play around with some shots over the weekend. I didn't realise I was making so many faces while doing it that it could be collaged. I really liked the way it turned out though.. the shots not the faces, although that's always fun!
As much as I would love to say 2013 has been as amazing as years before, it hasn't really. If 2013 were a movie, I would have given it mixed reviews. However I am grateful for the unexpected opportunities and thankful for all your support. Here's to hoping for a better and more fulfilling 2014.. Happy New Year!! x
So my Akiyo story begins with... I would really like to say rings as they have some nice ones but since that particular one I liked was not available in my size so I would have to say, some charms and a silver bracelet. Jewellery makes wonderful gifts especially at Christmas. Akiyo Jewellery has some nice bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings if you're looking for something for your girl, sister, bff and/or mom.
