Lancome Spring 2016 Collection - Review
'From LancĂ´me With Love, A Parisian Spring 2016 Collection', is an irresistible collection for obvious reasons, the colours, illustrations as well as the exciting new products. It is inspired by an imaginary journey infused with grace and lightness. The heroine of this Parisian tale re-connects with her childlike side to imagine looks with new-found sensuality, both elegant and delicate, playing with innovative textures and zesty colours. In one word, playful.
I got to check out the collection earlier with a demo from Zamri Zainol, LancĂ´me National Makeup Artist. The collection consists of quite a few products but the main focus are the My Parisian Pastels, My Parisian Cream Blush, and LancĂ´me Hypnose Palette (RM160) in two variations - Paris Merveilleux and Paris en RĂŞve.
My Parisian Pastels (RM200) is a bouquet of colours. This cheek and eye palette comes in pastel candy shimmer cubes. A nine shade palette so versatile it can be used as eyeshadows, illuminators, correctors, blushes and even contours. The 9 shades are divided into 3 corrective shades, 3 blush tones and 3 illuminating pastels. Even then the shades can be used interchangeably with any combination. The shimmer cube is new to LancĂ´me but is very similar to what a particular UK beauty brand is known for. That said, My Parisian Pastels is really pretty. Despite the beautiful pastel candy colours, the colour pay off is subtle and the shimmer factor high. I am impressed at how the colour shows nicely on different skin tones. You are just meant to have fun with it.
My Parisian Cream Blush (RM145) dubbed the Play-doh blush, is playful and visually irresistible. Balloon-round and decorated in pop colours reminiscent of a sweet shop, it promises the healthy glow and effortless radiance adored by Parisienne. The Play-doh texture is reminiscent of Proust's madeleine when the finger presses it. A serious throwback episode with the texture. It comes in two shades Corail de Ville, a fruity orange and Rose Haussmann, a flush-effect bluish pink. I can't help but notice the pink is a very Lisa Eldridge type of pink. The texture is a lightweight cream to powder which gives a pretty flush of colour. It blends easily upon application. Just like the shimmer cubes the cream blush is also a versatile product, not only can it be used as a blush, it can also be used as an eyeshadow as well as on the lips.
Both My Parisian Pastels and My Parisian Cream Blush are housed in vintage metallic containers which looks just like a childhood box of crayons. The packaging is customised with the collection's signature illustration, cute and quirky, of a Parisienne walking her little dog over the Paris rooftops on a beautiful spring day with a bouquet of balloons in her hand, carrying the message From LancĂ´me With Love.
I managed to test out the colours on my model Jane for the makeup challenge and it turned out pretty good, with help from Zamri of course. Zamri also gave me a makeover with the shimmer cubes and cream blush and I have to say I was pleasantly amazed with the results. The pink eyes looked dreamy with my overall complexion looking radiant. It's a whole lot of pink than I'm used to seeing on myself but it worked.
The LancĂ´me Spring 2016 collection is already available at all counters nationwide.
Thank you LancĂ´me Malaysia team for a fun afternoon!
