Definitely something you wouldn't usually expect to wear for Raya (Eid) but according to Bernard Chandran the inspiration for the collection showcased for Petang Raya 2014 - Wanita Berkuasa was from his clients who wanted to wear traditional outfits and yet look current. He brings traditional to the street but in a chic way with a mix of textures, fabrics and colour.

Bernard Chandran's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection was nothing less than sensational! It's inspired by 1950's glamour with his own interpretation and creation. "A tribute to his mother" as he says it.

Despite the sheer sculptural simplicity, it has such fluidity that accentuates the feminine curves with a touch of edgy sophistication. In this collection you'll find the cocoon pleated peg top skirt, the shirt dress, body suit and new refinements in the cut work evident especially in the jackets. It brings the 50's into the now!

I just lurv the fabrics and colours used for this collection. My fave would have to be the new thread embroidery hand painted designs. As for the colour palette for spring/summer, it's colourful without being too loud. Grey, silver, gold, green, turquoise blue, champagne and apple green.

In lurv with this skirt! Its gotta be the lace!

Fluid simplicity! Check out the fabric used for the skirt below, isn't it just gorgeous!

Brilliant details on the fabric!

Asia Magic Gala is later this evening. Waiting in anticipation for what Klutched, Gallo and Khoon Hooi have in store! ^^

Not a place for extraterrestial sightings but the latest project by designer Bernard Chandran. It's Kuala Lumpur’s latest uber trendy and hip fashion destination located in Bukit Bintang. Area27 is a multi-label store-cum-hip showcase that defies traditional boundaries and re-defines high street fashion with an attitude.

Officially launched by Bernard Chandran!

Area27 is essentially where the younger generation can identify with their own style. Wanting to start something inspirational for the younger generation apart form fashion, Area27 has a hang out area for budding musicians who wants to show their craft and an area for young local artists  and photographers to display their works.

Labels carried include Puma Blackstation range like Alexander McQuess, Rudolf Dassler, Mihara Yasuhiro and Puma Area27 customisde trainers. Area27 views fashion through a more unconventional lens. The store-cum-gallery reinvents itself each season featuring Natalija Jansone, Butterflysoulfire, Ana Sekularac, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Riccardo Forconi, Suzanne Werson, La Boite as well as Area27's own labels like Forknspoon, BCArea27, Animal Kingdom, Tanestrran2001, Skullarea, words and Negaraku and a variety of graphic t-shirts by up-and-coming designers.

Apart from the models, local celebrities were at the launch decked in gear you can get from Area27. The street fashion show made it rather difficult to snap photos and fully appreaciate the outfits that were put together. Not that I was a huge fan of it though. The 're-define high street style with attitude' definitely has a target market. But I dont think it's quite there yet. I appreciate the fact that it's tapping into something different but there were some pretty outlandish pieces. Hmm.. ET after all?
