EARLY DETECTION OF BREAST CANCER SAVES LIVES!!

It's nearly time for Breast Cancer Awareness month! Every October Estée Lauder organises various events to create awareness and has been the main organisation who champions this cause for the past 13 years.

The theme this year is CONNECT. COMMUNICATE. CONQUER. – to connect to all your family and friends and communicate to them the importance of early detection and we are then (together) be able to conquer breast cancer one woman at a time.

Last year's Walk for World Pink was a huge success! Despite it not being on the agenda this year, Estée Lauder will be organising various other events and activities to raise awareness and also to raise funds.

Happenings in October:

5th October – Illumination of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad ( to raise awareness)

8- 10th Oct – Mid Valley Mall event : Free health checks, free health talks with surgeons and oncologist from Sime Darby Healthcare, Sony Photo wall, body paint and limited edition Pink merchandises on sale where all proceed goes to the fund

15 – 17th Oct – One Utama Mall event : Free health checks, free health talks with surgeons and oncologist from Sime Darby Healthcare, Sony Photo wall, body paint and limited edition Pink merchandises on sale where all proceed goes to the fund

28th Oct – Charity Golf Competition at KLGCC

29th Oct – A Pink Charity evening with Frances Yip

For those of you who went for the events organised last year, do go for the ones this year too. And to those who missed out on last year's you won't regret attending this year's events. Not only will you learn more about breast cancer and how to do a self-examination which is really important, the funds raised from purchasing any of the Limited Edition Pink Merchandises will go towards the cause.

I was one of the 20 shortlisted for Parkson’s first edition of The Style Journal – Christmas 2010 Edition photoshoot! The best part was I received the news on my birthday last week! *was jumping with joy! :p* Parkson gave me a birthday present, it was as if they knew!! *winks*

I was so excited on Saturday that I got to Parkson even before the shutters were up. Lol!  I could see the staff were just about to set up for the shoot through the shutters. Yeah I was peeping.. it kept me occupied while waiting.

9:45 am - I look sleep..

Soon as the shutters were up I met Joanne from Parkson at the United Colors of Benetton (UCB) counter and was swiftly whisked away to A Cut Above to get my hair done. Joanne explained the looked they were going for was Simple & Relaxed for both hair & makeup. Something different from my fave Rock Babe look.. ;)

A familiar face! I met Desiree at the salon! (The sweet babe that helped me model some dresses for one of my posts last month).  I thought my hair was to be a bit straighter but I was soo pleased that the junior stylist defined my curls instead! Yay!! *lurv it when they do that..*

I got to choose my top back at the UCB counter from their latest Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection. I spotted the green one I was admiring earlier with the pretty studded cat on the front and took it off the rail at lightning speed. *yeah yeah I know that sounded so kiasu.. lol*

Makeup by RMK - it was all about the Autumn Brown 2010 A/W Collection. It's very natural & nude. Carley used the Deep Brown and Dark Brown Trio Eye Palette on me. Pale Gold Beige on my cheeks and Pale Beige on my lips. Since the Pale Beige shade made me look a bit sickly, it had to be topped off with a bit of gloss. Some gel liner and two coats of mascara later, I was ready to rock my photoshoot.

By this time Parkson's Ambassadors Kelly Jagan & Danny Lim,  winners of the Ford Models Malaysia 2009, were already around to help out the participants with posing and styling tips. Both Kelly & Danny gave me great suggestions on how to pose because half way through my session I was running out of ideas. *soo embarassing!*

After about 20 minutes of sliding, kinda walking, attempting to look natural, trying to look cute, smiling too much, looking serious (this didn't work for too well.. lol), having fun and awkward pauses hoping to be inspired with more poses, my session was done. *phewh* Didn't realise I could feel so hungry after a 20 minute photoshoot..

Since my own camera had a mind of its own, it coutinued to click away..

As I was about to change my top, I found out that I get to keep it!! The green cat top was miine!! Together with the rest of my goodie bag I went off for lunch.

Thanx Parkson for an extremely exciting experience!! I had loads of fun with the photoshoot and its was wonderful to get to meet Kelly & Danny!!

Music, Arts & Style brought together to celebrate Malaysia Day 2010! Featuring home grown talents from singers, performers, artists and designers this will definitely keep us occupied from 15-19 September 2010.

MASif 2010 (Music, Arts and Style International Festival) is geared to be a "Fusion of Culture" to celebrate Malaysia's diversity in music, arts & style. This is also to create an awareness for the younger generation on the formation of Malaysia and the difference between this auspicious day and the country’s Independence Day.

With a carnival like atmosphere this will surely attract a lot of people!

His designs are just Gorgeous! This Glam Designer was chosen to design a traditional outfit for Miss Malaysia/Universe 2010 Nadine Ann Thomas to wear at the Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I'm not sure if she planned this but it just so happened that both of us are still on Raya break today and decided to re-energise ourselves at Aster Spring KLCC with their ORP Energy Therapy aka "The Chamber".

While having a club sandwich and spaghetti bolognese and scheming over future happenings, at San Francisco Coffee out came a Burt's Bees signature brown bag.

Hmmmm.. Wonder what's in here..

Miu : "Since your birthday is tomorrow I thought I might as well give you your present today" (not her exact words.. lol!).

Fatin : "Yaayyy!!" (my exact reaction.. :p). Maybe something from Burt's Bees? But I was misled..

Instead of opening to see what was in the bag I started a guessing game. Trust me do these things. My first guess: Lip Balm, since I lurv lip balms to the extent of ridiculousness *I can never have enough! ;)*. I was right! Next.. what brand??

Mui's 1st Clue: It's not sold in Malaysia and pretty packaging. Not until she said "Bling Bling" did I shrieked "JILL STUART!!!"

Miu's 2nd Clue: You went into the shop and liked something from there.. My finger pointed directly to the shop on my left, "L'OCCITANE!!!" She bought it some time in June!!
