It started at 11 am and was conducted by Yokoe Chan, MAC's Senior Artist using Ayu the Promotions Executive for CLEO as a model. The workshop made full use of MAC's latest Holiday Collection.

I've never really tried MAC products before so this was a great introduction. (I'm a Bobbi Brown fan! ;p) Lets see if this workshop managed to turn me into a MAC fan.

Hocus Focus - Smoke & Mirrors

I went for the safe colours. It was still nice.

14) Technakohl Liner - In Graph Black. Blends on application, no-smudge.

15) Pro Lash - In Coal Black. Lengthening, thickening, no smudging. It made my lashes look super thick & super curled!

Pro Lash - Technakohl Liner - Neutral Lip

16) Hocus Pocus Colorful Face Kit - Includes Pretty Baby Beauty Powder, Peachykeen Sheertone Shimmer Blush and Sunsparked Pearl Beauty Powder. Apply Peachy Keen to apples, blend lightly upwards. Then blend Pretty Baby from hairline downwards.

17) Neutral Lip Palette - Apply liner to shape cupids bow. Use darkest shade first or mix with lighter shade. Apply shimmer if required.

18) Dazzleglass - In Phiff! For longlasting glossy effect.

Dazzleglass - Cremesheen Glass

19) Studio Moisture Fix - To set make up.

This took 2 1/2 hours to do. Lol! Now let me see, I love the Studio Fix Fluid. The colour was very close to my natural skin colour. I noticed that the Prep & Prime managed to mattify my skin for a few hours. A lot longer than base or primer from other brands that I've tried. Hmm.. Perhaps I might give a few things from MAC a try after all.. ;)

Scarlett on my left helped me out with my make up

Shahrom was just cute. Lol! He helped my out too.. ;p

Oo.. Nearly forgot about the doorgift. Each participant recieved a Tricolour Lipglass in Triple-Yum as well as a One-on-one Make Up Consultation where I get to redeem a Charge Water Skin Hydrating Mist & Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone Sample.

But the lighting in the room wasn't very good though. It was a bit difficult to really see the intensity of the colours while applying. Orange lights.. sheesh.. Otherwise, it was a good workshop. :)

Make up artists from different brands have their own way and style of applying make up. At the workshop David shared with the participants Clinique's know-hows & how to's when it comes to make up.

Clinique Make Up 101

David who conducted this session said, “Make up is about options, not about rules”. He went on to show us how to get the perfect fresh look. After demonstrating on one of the participants, we were left to our on devices. ;)

1) Foundation – Custom Fit

 • When looking for colour, try at the jaw line.

• Check skin undertone – either cool/warm.

• When applying foundation, blend downwards with a foundation brush.

• If you want to sit the foundation in, warm up the palms of your hands and press in on your skin.

• Concealer – Either for blemishes or under eye.

• Tip : Mix concealer with a bit of foundation then apply to blemish or scar to last longer.

2) Loose Powder

• Pour a bit of powder into your palms and press in i.e. powder rub down.

• Blend away access with brush.

3) Blusher

• Smile!

• Press brush onto apple of cheeks and sweep towards hairline in upwards motion.

• For a pop of colour, tap a bit on apple of cheeks.

4) Eyeshadow

• Apply base – Blend all over lids to brighten up eye and to make eyeshadow last longer especially on oily lids.

• Types – High shimmer, Light weight shimmer, Matte

• Brush used on eye area depends on how big or small the area is.

• Lightly tap on lids.

• Note : Clinique brushes are anti-bacterial.

5) Eyeliner

• To apply – Press ring finger on top of eyelid and draw.

6) Mascara

• Look down, sweep wand downwards.

• Open eye and apply with zig zag motion upwards.

• Clinique mascara naturally curls eyelashes without use of curler.

• Tip : To curl naturally, rub finger into palm to warm it up then put onto lash pushing upwards after applying mascara.

High Impact Curling Mascara. This Mascara Is Amazing! I have one.. ;)

7) Eyebrow

• Fill in eyebrow lightly with pencil and blend with brush for natural look.

8) Lips

• Again, smile! and apply.

• Lip Pencil – Fill in lips with lip pencil for lipstick to last longer.

• Choose between lipstick and/or lipgloss.

• Gloss – Dab on centre of lips and blend outwards.

Lip Smoothie. Texture was light.

The make up session was fun. I got to try Clinique’s new Lip Smoothie in Raisin. Love the colour. Also love the Fresh Bloom All Over Colour in Camelia.

All Over Bloom in Camelia. Doesn't it look so pretty!
I have this one in Peony.

A table was set up outside the room to enable participants to purchase any of their products after the session. Makes things very convenient.

Goodies

Each participant left with a cute mini tote with goodies inside, High Impact Mascara Travel Size, Fresh Bloom in Peony Charm Size, Super City Sunblock Spf 40 Travel Size, Voucher for a Free Personal Makeup Workshop worth RM100 and a RM30 Gift Voucher. Love Clinique!

The Clinique workshop held on Saturday at Sime Darby Convention Centre was organised by Women’s Weekly for its readers. I got there about 9.20 am. Why so early you wonder. I woke up at 6 am, so I figured might as well.

Two plateful of cookies greeted me after I registered. What a way to start off the morning. Cookies.. ;p

About 10 am we were ushered into the Eugenia Room. 5 tables were set up and provided with a range of skincare products. Looks fun already!

My table was attended by 2 counter managers. We were introduced to the skincare products starting with their signature 3-step routine. The 3-step products are categorised according to skin type. I’m a type 3 – combination skin which is oilier on the t-zone but cheeks are comfortable without moisturiser.

1) Make Up Remover

2) Cleanser - Liquid Facial Soap

3) Clarifying Lotion - Formulas for oilier skin help sweep away oil, maintain clearer skin.

4) Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel - To replenish oil. As my skin type is 3, a gel moisturiser is more suitable as it’s oil-free as well as having an oil control effect.

5) Eye Cream

Moisture Surge - To reduce dark circles & puffiness

Derma White - Brightening effect. It comes in 2 containers. For day & night. The day eye cream has Spf 15 for sun protection.

6) Hydratant - To replenish water.

7) Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40- Tinted. It comes in Spf 25 & 40. Can be worn alone or as an invincible make up primer.

* I personally have been using Clinique Super City Sunblock Spf 25 for 7 years now. It definitely protects and acts as a good base. It also suits my skin.

8) Mask

Exfoliating Mask - For a more radiant skin tone. Though may not be suitable for skin suffering from acne.

Deep Cleansing Mask – Suitable for oily skin and those suffering from acne.

Now this was what I was disappointed with. I didn’t get to try the Instant Facial Mask! I was looking forward to this as I was contemplating on whether I should purchase this product. It promotes surface cell turnover on multiple levels to instantly unveil skin that's fresher, more vibrant and even-toned

Whilst the other tables were taking their time trying the products, my table was going through the steps at near lightning speed that the SAs who attended to us totally left out the mask step. Am I serious? Yes! By the time we finished steps 1 through 7 the rest of the tables were taking their time applying the mask. When I asked the SAs about the left out mask step, neither of them could answer me. Instead they tried to make up for the lost step by saying that we could try the mask on our hand instead. There wasn’t really a point to that. I think everyone at my table was terribly disappointed.

We waited for everyone else to finish their skincare steps before going for tea break. Finger foods and light refreshments were served.

Read on next post for make up session... :)

Location:
dr-Cafe Coffee @ Solaris, Mont Kiara

Brief intro:
A coffee company from Saudi Arabia established in 1997.

Guest reviewer:
Simon the Quacky Duck - Met Simon at the Quacky Run earlier in the day.

What's the place about:
Your usual coffee place round the corner. They have a good selection of single origin whole beans, mugs, cups, thermos, french presses, drip coffee makers and other coffee paraphenelias. Unlike the usual coffee places that only has the day's newspapers, they have books for you to choose from only for reading in the outlet though.

Ambience:
Welcoming & friendly. The decor is very stylish yet cozy. The chairs are comfy. ;p

Admiring the decor..

Comfy chairs ;p

Drinks:
Coffee & non-coffee drinks.

Food:
Sandwiches, cakes, muffins, not too sure if they serve hot food.

Order on my 1st visit:

1) Cookie Frappe RM14.70 (Tall) - An ice-blended drink. Blended together with a whole medium-sized chocolate chip cookie. The sweetness to this drink is most likely contributed by a cookie syrup.

2) Double chocolate muffin RM6.30 - Basic muffin mix topped with sugary bits. Served warm.

What I think:
The measurements for the Cookie Frappe was nicely done. Though I thought the frappe was a bit too smooth. It would have been more exciting if the chocolate chip cookie was coarsely blended instead, leaving small chunky cookie bits to munch on. This frappe is worth a try.

As for the muffin, texture was soft but rather dry. What I found a bit strange about this muffin was why call it a double chocolate if it doesn't have chocolate chips or chunks. Technically this would just be a plain Chocolate Muffin as it lacks a double chocolate hit to it. I don't recommend this.

Simon says:

He enjoyed the drink but didn't think very much of the muffin. It was dry making it hard for him to swallow.

Overall experience:
Good. Mostly likely to drop by again to try other drinks & perhaps a cake. Price for ice blended and muffin is slightly more expensive compared to other coffee places.

I woke up at 5.30am for this run! I would like start by commending the organisers for scheduling the t-shirt collection 2 days before (just like a competetive run). I actually got the size I asked for in the registration form - XS :). The green ribbon represents Cervical Cancer Awareness where as the Pink Ribbon, Breast Cancer Awareness.

I reached Jaya One, PJ at 7.20am but the area where the run was suppose to start was still quite empty. So I did the usual go have a look around and take pictures. It looked rather cloudy, it didn't rain though. Great weather to go for a run. Eventually the area started filling up with participants. It had a Sunday morning outing atmosphere to it, without the picnic basket.

The run started at 8.00am. 4.5km took about 40 minutes. It wasn't exactly a scenic route but at least it didn't require me to climb up a hill ;p. I was handed a Certificate of Participation as I passed the finish line. By this time the booths were fully set up and I went to collect my goodie bag. It had Elken products, Style magazine, vouchers for food outlets at Jaya One, a pin and an Amber Chia 2010 Calender.

Met some cows along the way.. Lol!

The booths were offering health checks, lucky dip, food & drink samples under the Elken brand as well as some other games to keep the participants busy. I spotted some local celebrities from the Wacky Bar play organised by PJ Live Arts (PJLA) one of the co-organisers of the event. Amber Chia, Joanna Bessey, Gavin Yap & Maya Tan Abdullah were mingling around in the crowd.

I feel so short! :(

This sort of events are a great time to get your basic check ups done.I got my blood sugar test as well as my BMI sorted, which I've decided not to share as the results were ridiculous. Lets just say I need to eat more meat. Each participant is entitled to a 'Strike & Win' session after the checks. Basically you have to get at least 1 out of 3 ping pong balls in any of the boxes mounted on the wall to win Elken products. I got 2 in. But only got milk tea sachets, so sad..

Blood sugar test

I stayed around until 10am to check out the Capoeira performance. Some of the guys are really flexible. They were just twisting their bodies around and doing hand stands effortlessly. Some chics sitting behind me fancied one of the guys, couldn't stop saying how sexy he looked. Errk!

"The sexy guy" doing hand stand

Until the next charity run/walk.. Get your check ups done..

It's finally back! You just can't imagine my excitement when I saw it. I know Winter White Chocolate is a seasonal flavour but the last time I had this was the Holiday's of '07. For some odd reason it was no where in sight last year.

This White Chocolate ice cream with chocolate-covered cherry pieces and a cherry ribbon is to die for & definitely one of my faves..

Perhaps triple scoop next round.. ;p
