Review: Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate - 7 Day Challenge
"Visible results in just 7 days", yes that's what the latest super serum from Lancome promises. Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate was launched some time mid last year, is a reformulation of is predecessor the Lancôme Génifique which was introduced a few years earlier (read review here and Lancôme Super Serums review here).
Lancôme Advanced Génifique contains 40% more active ingredients than Lancôme Génifique and targets 48 skin proteins instead of the earlier two. Therefore it is able to repair and activate 10 key visible and tactile (what you feel beneath your fingers) signs of youth - fine lines, coarse wrinkles, radiance, clarity, evenness, texture, resilience, tonicity, firmness and sagginess.
Lancôme Advanced Génifique did not stray from the iconic 'Little Black Bottle design' including only two other elements, the silver metal cap is now embossed with the emblematic Lancôme rose as well as very intriguing self-loading dropper which I thought was very clever. This self-loading dropper delivers just the right amount for one application. It requires a twist for it to load the liquid into the dropper and all you need to do is press the top of the metal cap to release it into your palm.
Having gone through two bottles of Lancôme Génifique for previous reviews, what I noticed about the texture of the Lancôme Advanced Génifique is that it's a tad lighter than Lancôme Génifique making the application process easier. I use only a few drops enough to cover my face and neck as it's really potent especially for oily skin.
I was hesitant to do a 7 day challenge at first but went through with it since Lancôme Advanced Génifique promises 'visible results in just 7 days'. Even then I only used it at night only. Here's why, Lancôme Advanced Génifique is essentially a booster, which means it will put my sebum on overdrive causing the skin to feel a little bit more oily than usual and/or cause break outs, which was what happened with Lancôme Génifique. I was advised by the Lancôme beauty therapist to use on alternate days at night only which turned out fine after the initial break out calmed down. Review here.
The first two days of using Lancôme Advanced Génifique was fine, my skin felt smooth and soft. After the third day I however I started getting some tiny white bumps and some painful red bumps, which I expected but carried on anyway. With some strong acne gel I managed to get it under control but it completely went away after 4 days or so. My skin also looked oilier than usual in the day. But after 7 days, I noticed my skin looked brighter, luminous, softer and perhaps a bit of improvement with texture. But of course to see better results with texture and lines you would need to continuously use Lancôme Advanced Génifique for a longer period of time.
If you have oily or combination skin and want to start using Lancôme Advanced Génifique don't hesitate to consult Lancome's Beauty Advisor to determine frequency of use which is best suited to you.
Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate retails at RM275 (30ml), RM360 (50ml) and RM485 (75ml). It is available at all Lancôme counters.
