If there's one thing that most women have in common is their undying fetish for shoes. I have a mate who has over 130 pairs and counting, she plans to open a shoe museum one day. Where as I am slowly building my collection. Very slowly. So when MIFA Malaysia included Benson Chen in the line up of The Twelve, I was intrigued. Here's a name I haven't heard off before and yet the shoes are beautiful!

The Masquerade Madness themed party by MIFA Malaysia yesterday was to unveil Benson's Summer Shoes Collection 2011. Guests dressed to impressed with gorgeous masks that reflect their personality. Some were outlandish but really made a statement.

The young & talented Benson Chen

Yes, I have a thing for tulle skirts at the moment.. :)

Now this 19 year old is a protege of non other than the man himself, Jimmy Choo! I know right, how amazing is that. Benson designed his first shoe at the tender age of 17 by accident! He has won several awards since then - "The Most Creative Design" in the Malaysia Footwear Competition 2010 as well as the second runner up for the category of "Ladies Boots Design" in the International Footwear Competition 2010. Fueled by talent and passion, Benson is just getting started as his cult following continues to grow!

An outfit fitting for a Masquerade Ball!

I personally like this pair.. its gotta to be the studs!

I thought the collection was young and fresh with a vibrant choice of colours. Lurv the use of prints, Swarovski crystals and studs. Lurv studs!! With names like Rhea and Daria, you can find pumps, peep toes, sling backs, that strappy pair and the much lurved ballet flats, all blinged up and ready to make you look like a star. Though Benson personally feels a woman looks best in no less than 5 inch heels!! A small sacrifice to be made for a walking indulgence!

The Showcase
I would have expected female models, but this was a wonderful change! Hawtt male models went around showcasing the shoes. I wasn't sure which one to look at, the shoes or the guys! Lol!

Benson Chen shoes range from RM120 - RM300. Drop by The Twelve @ Fahrenheit 88 to check out the rest of his collection and since you're there pick your fave and try it on. You better get them before Benson goes international, by then the price would be beyond our reach. *winks*

I met up with a mate of mine for lunch today. She's back for a 2 week break from Bristol and has some what calmed down from the panic attack she had last week. I've been trying to convince her life in KL isn't all that bad. Well, it's just not too good! Lol!! If you aren't the type that constantly craves for mouth watering desserts (that's impossible to get here) all the time, then yeah it's not too bad. :(

We settled on Delicious for lunch and treated ourselves to G'Day Iced Coffee and Death by Iced Chocolate since she insists on sitting outside to soak in the sun since it's still chilly back in England. Mid May and it's still chilly?? The weather has seriously gone bonkers!

Me & Oni soaking in the sun!

Now here's where the "tough chick comes in". We decided to share a Grilled Balinese Chicken which took forever to get to us. We made the usual "Are they catching the chicken?" comment. As we tucked into lunch, we realised, they may have did just that. The chicken tasted like its been running miles before it got into the pot!! I have never "met" a chicken piece with such tough meat. Rating for tenderness: Zero!

Run Clucky Run!

But we didn't pay much attention to it though, we were too busy catching up and planning for our next European Adventure filled with drool worthy desserts, good food and hawtt guys!

Managed to check out the Pirates of the Carribean Launch set up at Mid Valley Center Court before it was time to leave. Quite impressive!

I'm getting quite good at this, managed to get bits of the ship in the back.. lol!

Convincingly looked like a 'marooned on a deserted island' background minus us smiling.. :P

More planning tonight and patiently waiting for my stuffs from Oni!! *big huge smilesz*

I know what you "young-lings" must be wondering.. buddy killed who?? Buddy didn't kill anyone really, he just made girls swoon. I'm talking about Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis nicknamed "The Killer", the pioneers of Rock & Roll way back in 1940's. Okie I'm not ancient but I grew up listening to songs by deceased Rock & Roll stars, except for Jerry Lee Lewis who is still burning up the keys at 75! Songs back then were so much simpler and easier to appreciate. It didn't rely on fancy equipments or state of the art instruments, it was just pure talent and soul!

I was lucky enough to catch the charity performance of Buddy vs The Killer by British Theatre Playhouse, courtesy of The Body Shop Malaysia. There was no ifs and buts about it, just straight up YES when I was invited!! Saying no was just sheer insanity.

The charity performance, a day earlier than the actual performance date was to raise funds for Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin, a foundation that focuses on helping underprivileged children in the area of healthcare and eduction. The proceeds for this special charity performance will go to the 'Stop Dengue Mission' programme.

Also made possible by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, guests were served a wonderful 3-course meal.

And for dinner I had...

Seared Tuna Loin with Spicy Watermelon Sauce Black Sesame Seeds

Slow Braised Te Spice Beef Short Rib with Parsnip and Potato Puree, French Beans, Braising Jus

Croustillant of Pine Nut Chocolate Mousse and Orange

This was delightful!

Let the show begin...
I was curious to see how Bill Geraghty was going to play both Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis but by the time the show ended I was well impressed! He was nothing less than brilliantly fantastic!!

Buddy Holly "on double bass"!!

Buddy Holly married Maria Elena Holly

The Day the Music Died
Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper killed in a plane crash!!

Jerry Lee Lewis

There were also appearances by other Rock & Roll stars, not the real ones of course. Would be really phreaky if it were. The King himself - Elvis Presley (OMG! I saw Elvis! Alive! Lol!), Johnny Cash, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, Carl Perkins, Bill Hayley. Now that's what I call star studded!!

Ritchie Valens

The Big Bopper

Million Dollar Quartet
Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis & Johnny Cash

Some of the songs they played (Made me wanna dance!!) - Rock Around The Clock, It's So Easy, Peggy Sue, Chantilly Lace, Come On Lets Go, Donna, Good Golly Miss Molly, Raining In My Heart, Whole Lotta Shakin, Breathless, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, Shake Rattle and Roll, La Bamba, Blue Suede Shoes, Jambalaya and the most anticipated one of the night - GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!

You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will, oh what a thrill
Goodness gracious great balls of fire

The back part of the piano was actually in flames but it didn't go high enough so I couldn't capture it clearly.. soo cool!!

That was me at intermission with my signature pose.. :P
(Apparently a lot of people noticed this pose.. lol)

Tammy was there too..

My evening ended on a high note, I enjoyed myself to the max!! The performance was spectacular made possible by a stellar cast! Thanks loads The Body Shop, once again you guys rock!!
