"For the Rock 'N' Roll Soul" - Burberry

I'm not too sure that it's for a pure Rock 'N' Roll Soul but I rather like the Burberry Brit Rhythm video. It's a cross between a concert music video, a group of dark hot guys walking in slow motion looking for prey and a fashion show. It looks cool no doubt. Perhaps too mild for the Rolling Stones in their hay days ie younger (lol!) but cool for the now. Rolling Stones? Really? Hey you can't talk about the British Rock 'N' Roll scene without referring to the Rolling Stones. That's just wrong!

It was a tough choice. In the end I narrowed it down to either the Sheer Eye Shadow in Mulberry (No.24) or the Lip Cover in Sepia Pink (No.32). Saying I wanted both was not an option (lol!!), so I opted for the lippie. I figured lippie was a more practical choice for me especially since it's a sensible neutral pink shade. As though I don't have enough lippies as it is. *sheepish smile*

There are two shades of Lip Covers from the Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection - Sepia Pink and Mocha Brown. As I mentioned in my previous post I tried on Mocha Brown a completely brown shade, out of sheer curiosity and you know what, I couldn't carry it off to save my life. However I was told that Mocha Brown will most likely suit darker skin tones.

So I was left with Sepia Pink which is a deep pink and on my lips would appear like my lip colour only better. Yay for my choice! Shade aside, the lip cover comes in a very modern gun metal tube. On the cover are etchings of Burberry's iconic check details with the brand name on the tube. Very luxe! What I really like about the packaging is the soft magnetic closure, which means the cover will never accidentally come off *touch wood*. That's happened to me a number of times especially since I usually just chuck my lip colour of the day in my bag filled with 'rubbish'. Not only was the cover all so glam, the lippie itself has the Burberry iconic checks details embossed into it.

Sepia Pink lip cover is Burberry's answer to a soft satin lipstick. The texture is light due to the combination of nourishing oils and gel giving it intense moisture and long lasting colour. It also contains anti-aging ceramides for fuller lip definition.

The formula is great. It's creamy and I find that is moisturises my lips for as long as I have it on without having to apply a lip balm underneath. It glides on with ease. It almost covers my natural lip colour in just one layer. You can go for a soft look with one layer. But it looks great with a second layer, as the colour is bolder and shows loads better.

I would say it lasts for about 3 hours before going off. Due to its creamy texture it tends to leave a colour line on the lip line. I know we would normally just reapply on top of whatever's left. But here's tip for creamy formulas: Wipe off all traces of colour and reapply a fresh coat. You can also use your finger to apply it for a more natural colour.

This is a really nice shade for Autmun/Winter 2012. The only gripe I have is the hefty price tag for a lippie. But then again, there's no reason not splurge once in while especially since this is a perfect colour for the season.

This is my first time experiencing Burberry Beauty. Despite passing the counter at Isetan KLCC countless number of times I never seem to make a stop until yesterday. Autumn/Winter 2012 reflects the mood of Burberry Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2012 runway collection. Effortless elegance. The new shades are inspired by the English countryside. Just as I thought, the smudgey style eyes are just classically British.

This season is all about effortless smoky with rich velvety brown shades. The complexion is flawlessly matte with a soft focus velvet finish with gently contoured cheeks and natural dusky lips.

The look starts of with a luminous base, Fresh Glow for a radiant youthful canvas. Then the new Velvet Foundation to achieve the soft velvety finish. Adrian chose shade 205 for my skin tone. He then finished off by lightly dusting Sheer Powder.

Now for the eyes. Apply Fresh Glow can onto the lids as a base. Smudge brown Eye Definer in Midnight Brown No. 02  onto the lids to get a more intense colour for the eye shadows. Next sweep Sheer Eyeshadow in Dark Sable No.23 onto the smudged eye definer. Then blend Mulberry No.23 into the crease to intensify the look. Light sweep Porcelain White No.25 onto the brow bone to highlight. Line upper and lower lashes with Midnight Brown. Lock in the colour on the lower lash line by applying Mulberry into the eye definer. The apply Effortless Macara in Midnight Black No.1. The reason why brown eye definer was use is to achieve a softer look compared to a black one.

For the cheeks sweep on an Earthy Blush. This is used more to contour than to get colour. Plus is doesn’t take attention away from the eyes.

On lips, I opted for Lip Cover in Sepia Pink No.32 instead of Mocha Glow No.31 which I found very curios. Mocha Brown is a completely brown shade. I suppose mixing it with Sepia think would have worked but on its own hmm.. that's a tough one. Add some gold gloss for a beautiful pout.

To finish off the look Adrian used Porcelain White No.25 to highlight my cheeks in a triangular motion then my nose bridge to draw attention to the centre of the face. Et voila, the Autumn/Winter 2012 look.

Let me just introduce to you guys a bit more about the new Burberry Beauty Velvet Foundation, a new addition to the Burberry Skin collection. It is long lasting with a matte, soft velvety finish. It offers medium coverage as you will notice from my complexion. It contains Wild Rose extract which moisturises and regenerates skin. The formula is also water-resistant. It comes in 8 shades.

The packaging is oh so fancy. It comes in a frosted bottle with a matte lid which reflects the foundation’s formula and finish. The Gunmetal lid features the iconic Burberry design.
