Review: Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++
A first from Kiehl's! The all new Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++. It claims to be a different kind of BB Cream offering different kind of benefits.
Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ offers a lightweight, yet buildable coverage developed with amino acid coated natural pigments. It works by concealing imperfections while working to correct skin discolorations. Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ also reduces appearance of pores and fine lines while providing all-day hydration with broad spectrum SPF50/PA+++ protection.
Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ lists silica, another name for silicone dioxide, as one of its ingredients which would explain why it would reduce appearance of pores and fine lines. In which case if your skin doesn't react well to silica you might want to sample this product first before purchasing an actual size. I personally don't fancy products containing silica as it doesn't work well one my skin.
That said, if you are not allergic or don't mind silica in products Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ could work to correct skin damage due to the Vitamin C in this formulation. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant derivative which works to decrease melanin production and transfer. Vitamin C also works to clarify skin tone, smoothen texture and enhance radiance over time.
Other ingredients include natural mineral pigments to provide stay true colour that lasts all day, glycerin for all day hydration and enhance clarity and luminosity and UV Filters which includes titanium dioxide.
Although the texture of Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ is a tad on the thick side compared to its Korean counterparts it's fairly easy to blend out. I applied a thin layer and noticed that it doesn't give much coverage especially since my dark acne scars are still visible. It also goes on a bit white due to the titanium dioxide. It also gives this dewy effect which I find disturbing as I already have oily skin. I decided to apply a second layer as Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ claims to give buildable coverage. My scars did seem slightly less obvious. But the thing is my face became whiter. The white effect became less obvious after 20 minutes. But it also made my face look much shinier. I'm assuming it's the glycerin offering all day hydration.
I checked in the mirror about an hour later and my complexion appeared to have a grey cast and looked dull. Apart from the titanium dioxide giving it the 'white' effect Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ in Natural is also a pink based BB Cream which doesn't blend well with my yellow undertones. It lasted all about 2 hours before the BB Cream appeared to be floating on the surface of my skin. Blotting off the oils just made my face appear patchy. So much for it working on oily skin. It comes in a slim tube which doesn't take up much space in your make up bag.
Kiehl's Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/PA+++ is best suited for you babes with a flawless complexion or minimal imperfections, normal to combination skin and those who are looking for a dewy finish.
