Review: Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Cream
New and a first from Biotherm, the Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Cream. This particular C.C. Cream not only acts as a makeup base but doubles as skincare as well. Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Cream Smoothing Bases comes in 5 colour corrective shades to tackle various skin tones issues - dark spots, dullness, unevenness, yellowness or redness.
Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Cream is essentially a 5-In-One care and correction. Apart from colour corrects, it hydrates, smoothes skin irregularities providing a nude finish, its broad spectrum sun screen SPF50+ & PA+++ prevents dark spots and pigmentation, and Biotherm Lumina Marina triple action brightening complex brightens the skin.
I chose to review the Purple C.C. Evenness which is targeted for uneven skin tone. It's meant to make your skin tone appear more even, illuminated and translucent. Obvious choice due to acne scars. It comes in a slim squeeze tube which makes it easy to control the amount needed. The cream actually comes out purple which I naturally assume would blend into the skin upon application.
The texture is thick and it takes a bit of effort blending it out. I used a small amount enough to cover my face as too much I assume would make my complexion appear white due to the high SPF. The C.C. Evenness blends out to a powdery finish. This powdery finish is meant to make the skin appear "smooth and refined". Go ahead, take a wild guess what contributes to the powdery finish... a very high amount of Dimethicone/Vynil Dimethicone Crosspolymer, a derivative of Silicone. Not a fan, especially with content so high, for the simple reason that it doesn't suit my oily skin and will make my make up "float" and eventually appear patchy.
Upon application my complexion appear to have a white cast. Which is accentuated after applying my foundation. It took me a tad longer than usual to blend out my foundation as the base made the foundation appear streaky. As you can see, my white complexion is a completely different colour from my neck . It doesn't really make my skin appear any smoother either. It feels heavy despite applying a very small amount. C.C. Evenness and my foundation lasts all about 30 minutes before my makeup started looking patchy.
I feel that the Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Evenness does not suit my skin tone and my skin type as the colour correcting effect made my complexion appear off colour. This might not have worked very well on me as I have medium-tan skin and strong yellow undertones from head to toe. Therefore to colour correct just the face (and neck) while the rest of the body remains yellow would look very strange.
Biotherm White D-Tox C.C. Cream is now available at all Biotherm counter and retails at RM135 for a 30ml tube.
