London - Lunch at Carluccio's & Wicked

By 10:28 ,

It was about noon-ish by the time we got to Paddington Sation. After nearly saying "Yes" to a "studio-styled aparment" that could have been breeding giant rats with killer gnashers strong enough to carry us away in the night and laughing half to death at cooker knobs sticking out of a cupboard we checked into a hotel down the road which we should have done much earlier. *Ons if you're reading this, I'll never forget that afternoon and we should've taken pictures!! rflol*

Since we decided that a musical was a must, I quickly chose Wicked. I read the book a few years back and it was amazing!

Window display at Cyber Candy @ Covent Garden, eye catchingly yummy..

Time for lunch : Carluccio's @ Covent Garden. Their first caffè with their own foodshop opened in Market Place in 1999. They serve delicious Italian food freshly prepared on the premises. My tummy was growling especially after walking through the food shop. Everything looked so good.

Pasta E Fagioli - £4.65
A thick soup of pasta, creamy borlotti beans and vegetables drizzled in extra virgin olive oil, served with our focaccia bread.
Great way to start a meal especially when its cold out. Smooth, creamy and flavourful. Focaccia fresh out of the oven.

Calamari Fritti - £5.95
Rings of deep fried calamari served with lemon.
Wonderfully seasoned, fresh calamari.

Risotto con Funghi - £10.95
Risotto with Porcini mushrooms.
Cooked perfectly al dente, the risotto was rich and creamy with the wonderful earthy woodsy flavour of the Porcini mushroom infused into the dish.

Walked around for abit, bought a few things, took some photos and made our way to watch Wicked at the Apollo Victoria. Wicked is basically the prequel to the Wizard of Oz. It tells the story of the relationship Elphaba the future Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North. The plot begins before and continues after Dorothy's arrival from Kansas. Pretty cool.

On our way to Wicked

Oni made me stand outside the theatre until I got a perfect photo of the bus passing by with the sign in the background.. it was cold!

Met up with one of Oni's friend for Wicked, she's the one behind the camera

Map of the Land of OZ

OMG!! It was fabulous! The costume, singing, music, props. They stayed true to the book. Super happy I got to watch it!!

We got to the hotel with this view..

Not bad huh.. Turned in for the night, safe from gnawing killer rats. 2 more days to go.. :(
