Confessions Of A Shopaholic 1: Valentino, Issey Miyake & Taylor Swift Fragrances
Here's something exciting, I attended an exclusive Bloggers Party organised by Luxasia last week themed Confessions of a Shopaholic at Sage Restaurant, Garden Residences and gosh it was loads of fun! I enjoyed the food thoroughly but I'll get into that in a separate post. Actually I've decided to break it up into 3 series. Otherwise it might get a tad long.
The party wasn't just about good food but it was also to introduce some new finds from brands under Luxasia that will be in the market real soon. This post will be about the latest fragrances, one of which I have fallen in lurv with.
It's Valentino's first fragrance foray into Malaysia and it's such a treat. Valentina mixes Parisian Chic and Italian Glamour. It exudes uber feminity with an air of airistocracy, sophistication, elegance, sexiness, rebellion and fun. It is a floral oriental scent that opens with a citrusy strawberry scent as it has amalfi orang blossom, tuberose, jasmine (white floral bouquet) and wild strawberry as its heart notes. Alba truffle and calabrian bergamot adds a hint of earthiness. Once settled you'll get the warm whiff of amber and cedar at its base.
It has an amazing commercial to match which feature model Freja Beha Erichsen who potrays a young woman from a privileged background who escapes from an Italian villa in a beyond gorgeous chiffon Valentino dress to enjoy a night about town. Watch the video and I dare say you'll enjoy it as much as I did the first time I watched it.
The clean outline of the couture bottle is decorated with beige and nude couture flowers with a unique ivory signature top. Lurving the flowers.
Valentina is already available at leading departmental stores in 30ml, 50ml and 80ml Eau de Parfum with body lotion, body oil, shower gel and deodorant.
This next one has a catchy name that doubles as a tongue twister if you try to say it really fast but I like it. Issey Miyake's latest Pleats Please is a marriage of fashion and fragrance. Pleats Please dubbed "The Perfume That Moves You" is a new perfume honouring the Pleats Please Issey Miyake fashion collection the brand established in 1989 of pleated materials and bright colours that follow movements of the body.
Pleats Please is very different from Issey Miyake's previous scents which are usually rich floral scents. This fragrance is a payful, joyous and optimistic fragrance of "vertically pleated" fruity floral with a woody base. It opens with Nashi (a pear apple hybird) with a floral heart note of sweat pea, peony and a neutral indole molecule that gives the scent freshness. At the base intense mix of patchouli, cedar, vanilla and white musk.
The commercial for Pleats Please is super fun and fluid with bold colours. It makes me feel like I can do anything with pleats. Oddly enough I'm actually on a lookout for the perfect pleat skirt. It might make an appearance on the blog soon. Let me see if I can find the commercial for you.
The bottle is inspired by Issey Miyake's uniquely designed Bilbao bag from its Bao Bao line. The cap is reminiscent of pleats or a white flower. The Bilbao bag is made of repetitive right angled triangle giving the bag its unique flexible shape. The design of the bag on the other hand gets it inspiration from the metal panels that steel wokers fuse together to create structures. A really cool concept!
Pleats Please will launch in September 2012 and will be availbale as 30ml, 50ml and 100ml Eau de Toilette with body lotion and deodarant spray.
Taylor Swift Wonderstruck is a product of current pop culture. Wonderstruck is named after the lyrics from the song "Enchanted" - 'I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the home' which tell about the feeling and impression you get when you first meet someone you like. High school much? *giggles* Needless to say scent is very young, sweet almost sugary.
It is a fruity-floral scent with a woody base. The top notes are raspberry, dewberry, green tea, freesia and apple blossom. The heart features sweet vanilla, honeysuckle and white hibiscus. At its base are notes of musk, sandalwood, amber and peach.
The commercial for Wonderstruck says it all. It's every young girls dream. Well, almost.
I wonder if the bottle can get any dreamier than this. The bottle is a tinted midnight blue-purple with scattered shimmer emulating the starry night sky. The gold cap is embossed with pretty designs and has a hidden number 13 which is symbolic for Taylor Swift fans. At the neck is decorated with gold charms of a Moravian star, dove and birdcage that represents her personal style. Fantasy-like.
Wonderstruck is already available at leading departmental stores in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml Eau de Parfum.
Personally I fancy Valentino's Valentina. It may have been the commercial that swayed me but the fragrance is just as irresistable. That's it for the fragrance, next part will be latest from Anna Sui and Guerlain skin care. So check back!
